Travelers - this post is about an easy way to help others when visiting a foreign destination.
The organization Pack for a Purpose encourages travelers to use a small amount of space in their suitcase to bring supplies for community projects and charities in the country they are visiting.
HOW PACK FOR A PURPOSE WORKS:
1: Go to the website and look up the country you are visiting
2: Find an accommodation/tour company that supports local projects. Obtain the supplies you wish to take from the list of specific items requested by the project.
3: Pack the item in your suitcase and head to your destination
4: Once at your destination, go to the drop off location and hand over your donations. They will be delivered to the project.
Think of it as giving a hostess gift to the community you are staying in. Pack for a Purpose simply provides the information on how to bring the perfect hostess gift!
This is also great if you have extra clothing or toiletries at the end of your trip.
When I heard about Pack for a Purpose, I immediately realized it was an essential piece of traveling that I'd been missing. It's important to bring a thank you gift when you travel.
Next month when I visit Peru I will be Packing for a Purpose!
The supplies I collect will be donated to Paz y Esperanza in Huanuco, Peru, which provides housing for sexually abused women and children.
Additionally, I hope to raise awareness for Pack for a Purpose, so other travelers remember to Pack for a Purpose on their next trip.

1. Visit the Pack for a Purpose site before your next trip and support a project. The trip doesn't need to be international. You can Pack for a Purpose in Washington D.C., NYC, and across Europe!
2. Donate an item to my "From Pittsburgh to Peru" drive, benefiting the Paz y Esperanza project in Huanuco, Peru. The Hotel Antigua Miraflores in Lima is the drop off location for the supplies. Items requested by this project items can be found below!
