Madeline Quigley is a blogger from Pittsburgh, PA, USA. While she is a firm believer in the fact Pittsburgh is the greatest city on earth (and blogs about it often), her true passion lies in travel, and she is always dreaming and scheming of her next destination. She focusses on budget and carryon backpacking, with an emphasis on getting the real feel of a city, especially through trying local foods! She isn't afraid to admit that she is an Instagram addict @burghgal

Note from Madeline: The Gal-ivanter is the alias for me! Madeline Quigley, the founder of this website. I have taken every picture on this site unless otherwise noted. I use a Sony DSC-WX500 (primary camera), Sony DSC-WX150, and an iPhone 8+.
The best travel advice I've ever received didn't come from books or guides. It came from real people who went out there, did the damn thing, and then shared their experiences through blogs or IRL conversations (those still happen)! That is the type of real travel advice I aim to emulate on thegal-ivanter.com.
I hope this blog inspires you to get out the door, and take that trip you've been dreaming of! Managing it isn't nearly as difficult as you think. Trust me, if I'm doing this, you can too.
I hope others can learn from the tips and lessons I've gained through my travels... especially the lessons (ie: make sure you have your debit card in your wallet before you walk away from the ATM).
